Schlitterbahn 2011

Brady's job really does have some nice perks and free tickets to Schlitterbahn is one of the cooler ones!  The kids love this place but I would certainly never buy full-price tickets, so it's great that Brady is usually able to swing at least a 4-pack.  Anyway, we packed up a picnic and headed down to New Braunfels for a day of fun.  I was pretty sure we would never survive as the forecast was calling for temps over 110*!!!  Lucky for us, the water was cold and the sunscreen was plentiful!  The first thing we hit was the Master Blaster!  This was the first year that both kids were big enough to ride it, so that meant that MOMMY got to ride it this year too!!!  The wait stunk, but we figured we'd rather get the long line out of the way early before it got too hot.  Here are the kidlets "patiently" waiting for their turn.
Ainsley was a little scared, so I insisted that she ride down with Daddy.  For some reason, she is a little braver with Daddy.  It was definitely a cool ride, but we all agreed that waiting in that line once was good enough!!  Then it was off to enjoy the rest of the park.

The wave pool is always a big hit.

Daddy is always silly!

I don't know if you can tell, but Ainsley really LOVES it!

If you're wondering why there are no pics of the boy in the wave pool, it's because he does the wave pool with no tube.  He just body surfs the waves and those of us in the tubes with the camera can't ever catch up with him!

Here they are though waiting to get on the Dragon's Revenge, which honestly is so much more lame now that they took the cool dragon's head off the ride.  A little, blinky lit up dragon is just not as fun.

And of course, Ainsley had to visit her favorite duck.  She calls it her "Princess Duck"!

Since the kids were big enough to ride almost all of the rides this year, we explored parts of the park that we've never been to.  While making our way to the "Congo River" we saw this Toob Barge floating down the river.
That's just not something you see every day!

The old part of the park, Schlitterbahn West, is basically run using water from the Comal River, which you see in the photo above.  The water is COLD, but since it was a scorching 113* that day, we toughed it out!  One of the kids' favorite new rides is the Congo River.  A little, lazy river that takes you under spraying snakes, arrow slinging Pygmies, lions, an elephant that drenches you and a monkey that really looks like it's peeing on you!  Then you take a detour through the mine shafts where you hit waterfalls and rapids!

We had a really great day, well, except for we didn't have the appropriate shoes and we all burned the crap out of our feet!!!  OUCH!  Needless to say, after we grabbed a quick Sonic snack afterwards, the kids were out cold within minutes and slept all the way home!  Hooray for free fun at Schlitterbahn!!!!
