My Dearest Little Ainsley!
Yesterday you turned 3! What a monumental day! You are no longer a toddler and absolutely not a baby, although you will always be MY baby. I am amazed by you daily, something so small, yet such a force to be reckoned with! You are strong-willed beyond belief and although that makes me want to pull my hair out at times, deep down I hope you always hold onto this trait. You will never be a push over and for that I am thankful! You are also the most outgoing and independent child I have ever known! Yet again, I hope these traits stick as they will serve you well later in life. And did I mention fearless? I just hope I can help you see the difference between being fearless and being reckless, as one can open doors to life's greatest opportunities, the other can pull the rug out from underneath it all!
I will admit, a little over three years ago when I discovered I was having a girl, I was taken aback. A girl? What was I to do with a girl? Then you arrived and I looked into those dark, baby blue eyes and I thought of my mother and I realized that everything would be OK. The bond between mother and daughter is a magical one and I am so grateful to share that bond with YOU!
This will be a big year for my big girl! You are already mastering the potty and anything else you set your mind to! And as much as I morn the loss of my tiny, helpless baby girl, I revel in your triumphs and delight in watching you explore and conquer the world around you! I am here to hold your hand and kiss your knee if you fall, but I understand that the day will come when you will need to let go of my hand and walk alone and when that time comes I will try my best to let go with grace! But always know that your Mama will be here whether to hold your hand or just walk by your side and you will forever be my heart!
Happy Birthday my Ainsley, I love you!
